A Baker woman died Wednesday after she crashed head-on into a logging truck while trying to pass another vehicle on La. 68 in East Feliciana Parish, said State Police spokesman Senior Trooper Bryan Lee.

Lee said the crash happened around 2 p.m. on La. 68 east of La. 964, leading to the death of 19-year-old Kenetra Brown, Lee said in a news release.

Brown was passing a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Trematice Duncan when she crashed into a 2005 Freightliner driven by 48-year-old Melin Chandler.

Brown was wearing a seat belt, but was ejected from her 2001 Honda Accord due to the severity of the crash, Lee said. She died on the scene.

The truck overturned in the crash, spilling across the road logs that hit Duncan's vehicle, Lee said.

Chandler, of Liberty, Mississippi, was not injured. Duncan, of St. Francisville, sustained minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

Lee said impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but a toxicology sample was taken from both drivers.
