No one was injured in a house fire early Sunday morning after two people escaped a burning home on Colorado Street when one noticed smoke coming from the back room.
Firefighters from the Baton Rouge Fire Department arrived at the home at 2033 Colorado St., at 10:23 a.m. to find the back of the home engulfed in flames, Curt Monte, a department spokesman, said.
Firefighters kept the fire from spreading and declared the blaze under control at 10:32 a.m., he said.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, though investigators do not suspect foul play, Monte said.
The rest of the home sustained heavy heat, smoke and water damage.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents.
