Police arrest 3 accused of witness intimidation
One day after Baton Rouge police arrested a 21-year-old man and accused him in a shooting death, police arrested three of the man’s relatives and accused them of attempting to intimidate a witness in the case.
Natasha Tate, 40, and Donte Tate, 20, of 4248 Cannon St., and Danny Allen, 26, of 2201 Fairchild St., were booked into Parish Prison Thursday night on counts of obstruction of justice, said Cpl. Don Coppola, a police spokesman.
The three are all related to Hardy Allen who was arrested in the Monday shooting death of 21-year-old Calvin Chrisentary in the 5000 block of Madison Avenue.
Attendees at a memorial for Chrisentary have said that he was never the kind of person to get into trouble and was less than a block away from a convenience store when he was shot and killed.
The three relatives parked outside the house of a “key witness” and also called that witness on the phone and intimidated her, Coppola said.
Woman says man raped her at LSU lakes
A woman told LSU police that a group of men approached her while she was at the LSU lakes on Oct. 7 and one of the men attacked and raped her while the others stood by and watched.
The woman said that when the group walked up to her on West Lakeshore Drive at about 7 p.m., one of the men grabbed her and raped her while the others stood around, LSU police spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde said.
The woman did not report the incident to police until Saturday, and the woman and police could not find a time to meet until Tuesday, Lalonde said.
Because the area is a popular jogging and exercise spot that is on a busy road, Lalonde said he’s hopeful that someone may have seen something they didn’t think to report at first.
Anyone with information in the incident may call LSU police at (225) 578-3231 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
