A Baton Rouge Police motorcycle officer riding north on La. 19 in Baker on Friday evening is recovering at a hospital from moderate injuries after hitting a car that pulled out into the highway from a side street, said Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps.
“I guess they just didn’t see him,” Knaps said. “Pulled out right in front him.”
The driver of the vehicle that hit the officer was cited with failure to yield and careless operation. That person’s identity has not been released.
The chief said the accident occurred about 8 p.m. at the intersection of La. 19 and Washington Street near Groom Road.
Knaps did not identify the officer.
