A Baton Rouge man remains hospitalized after he was shot several times late Thursday night when he confronted an intruder in his Jamestown Avenue home, according to a Baton Rouge police report.

Police said late Friday they are looking for John Lopez, 38, 12247 Dove Hollow, Denham Springs, who is wanted for attempted second-degree murder and home invasion in the incident.

Lopez forced his way into the home in the 4900 block of Jamestown Avenue about 11 p.m., police reported.

He and a 41-year-old man inside the residence were arguing through the front door, said Baton Rouge police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, when Lopez broke through the door and shot the victim multiple times in the upper torso before fleeing in his vehicle.

McKneely would not describe the relationship between the two men but said the incident was domestic and the two were acquainted.

The unnamed victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

Anyone who has information on Lopez’ whereabouts is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
