Baton Rouge police arrested a 23-year-old man accused of shooting one man, then biting the responding officer on the arm.
Officers arrived at 3116 Dalton St. at 9:40 p.m. Monday and found the victim with one gunshot wound to the right arm, police said. When they found the suspected shooter, John Belliazere, 36, he attacked one of the officers, biting him on his left arm.
The officer and the shooting victim were treated for their injuries and released from a hospital, police said.
Belliazere, 3116 Dalton St., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of attempted second-degree murder, resisting an officer, second-degree battery, felon in possession of a firearm and possessing an unregistered handgun.
Authorities book 4 on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least four people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Tori Frost, 21, 7801 Scenic Highway, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation and failure to maintain control.
- Walter Haily, 29, 11101 Reiger Road, Baton Rouge, third-offense DWI, expired registration and improper lane usage.
- Nathaniel Hegwood, 25, 320 Misty Creek Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, stopping/parking where prohibited and possession of alcohol in vehicle.
- Brandy Hill, 37, 2608 Shadowbrook Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, driver’s license suspended/revoked, improper turns and reckless operation.
