Police probe shooting on Georgia Street

Baton Rouge Police Department officers are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday night in the 2800 block of Georgia Street, according to a news release issued by Cpl. Don Coppola, a department spokesman.

Coppola said the victim, a 24-year-old man, arrived at a local hospital around 9:20 p.m. suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. He is expected to survive.

Investigators believe the shooting was the result of an ongoing argument, but the probe is ongoing, Coppola said.
