Update: Autopsies of the two women found dead in a car parked along Boone Drive show both women died of gunshot wounds to the head, said East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Dr. Beau Clark.

Two Texas women, both age 23, were found shot to death inside a car parked along Boone Drive Friday night, authorities say.

Brandi Gilbert of Plano and Corrin Rayford of Grapevine were found fatally shot around 11:00 p.m. on the 8100 block of Boone Drive, Baton Rouge police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola said in a news release.

There are no known suspects or motives at this time, Coppola said, but the investigation is ongoing.

Rayford had previous arrests for prostitution and human trafficking, according to news articles published in Dallas, Texas.

Lyle Hitzman, a Boone Drive resident, said he returned home around 10:30 p.m. Friday night and saw an unfamiliar car parked in a dark area along the road near his house. He called the police to check it out but did not approach the vehicle or see the women inside.

Police arrived soon after and informed Hitzman that two females were found shot to death in the vehicle, he said.

“I was shocked,” Hitzman said Saturday morning. “This is a pretty quiet area.”

Hitzman, a resident of the area for 15 years, said he didn’t know anything further about the Texas women or what happened.

Baton Rouge police homicide detectives were on the scene around 11 a.m. Saturday but did not have any new leads or information.

Rayford, whose address was listed by Baton Rouge police as 2805 Mustang Drive in Grapevine, was arrested in Dallas for human trafficking about a year ago, according to a Feb. 4, 2014, article in The Dallas Morning News. The article described her as a “convicted prostitute” who was arrested at a motel with a 13-year-old runaway who police said was being sold for sex on Facebook.

Cassidy Gilbert Dewberry, who lives at 6912 Hickory Creek in Plano, the address provided for Gilbert, said Gilbert was her cousin.

She said Gilbert had moved in with her after living for a time in Wisconsin. She said she didn’t know why Gilbert was in Baton Rouge but that their family had lived in Louisiana in the past.

Dewberry said she did not know Rayford.
