A 68-year-old Clinton woman was arrested Friday following fatal an early morning crash with a Mississippi motorcycle rider.
Cynthia Cambre was arrested on negligent homicide and failure to yield at a stop sign counts after she pulled in front of William James of Summit, Mississippi, State Police reported.
The accident happened shortly after 6 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Plank and Gross roads in East Feliciana Parish.
An initial report says Cambre came to a stop at the intersection of the roads, but failed to yield the right of way to James, who was driving a 2013 Triumph motorcycle. James motorcycle ran into the driver's side door of Cambre's 2015 Jeep Renegade and burst into flames when Cambre attempted to make a left turn and drove into his path, State Police reported.
James, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner's Office.
Cambre received moderate injuries and was taken to Lane Memorial Hospital for treatment. Impairment is not suspected of being a factor in the crash, but a toxicology sample was taken of both Cambre and James for analysis.
