Hours after a 16-year-old boy was shot and injured in the face, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old man accused of shooting him during an argument Wednesday afternoon.

Allen Williams III, of Donaldsonville, encountered a group of three males on St. Patrick Street and Front Street at 4 p.m. Wednesday, and the four started arguing about stolen property, Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said.

Williams opened fire as the disagreement escalated, and a bullet struck the 16-year-old in the cheek area, Bacala said. The boy was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and is expected to make a full recovery.

No one else was injured in the shooting, and it was unclear Wednesday night how the victim and Williams knew each other.

Williams, 912 Maginnis St., was booked into the Ascension Parish jail on three counts of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
