Update: Louisiana State Police spokesman Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee said Saturday that investigators now believe the vehicle involved in the fatal hit and run was a 2012 to 2015 GMC Terrain in a "magna steel" color, which is a shade of gray. The vehicle would have significant damage to the front right side and is missing the passenger's side mirror.

Lee initially said they were looking for a tan Toyota Corolla or Camry.

SORRENTO – A St. Francisville man was hit by a vehicle and killed on U.S. 61 south of I-10 in Ascension Parish on Friday afternoon and State Police investigators are now looking for the driver who hit the victim before fleeing the scene, said agency spokesman Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee.

Lee said 49-year-old Patrick Lester was walking on the northbound side of U.S. 61 shortly before 4 p.m. when he was struck by what investigators believe to be a tan Toyota Corolla or Camry. Police are unsure why the vehicle hit Lester, Lee said.

Investigators are looking for a tan Toyota with damage to the front right side of the car, particularly to the headlight assembly, and with a missing passenger-side mirror.

A coroner's report is pending, Lee said.
