A student was arrested Friday by the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office after verbal threats were made to a teacher at Broadmoor High School.
The 16-year-old boy is also accused of making threats to the school, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.
“A school resource officer responded to a call from school administration,” said Adonica Duggan, spokeswoman for the East Baton Rouge Parish school system. “The student was subsequently placed in police custody.”
Off-duty sheriff’s deputies are employed by the school board to handle school security, Hicks said.
The student was arrested on a count of assault and terrorizing, Hicks said.
