A fire at a vacant Baton Rouge house has been ruled arson, officials said.

At 12:30 a.m. Monday, Baton Rouge firefighters responded to a one-alarm house fire in the 1900 block of Maryland Street, according to a news release from the Baton Rouge Fire Department. Firefighters arrived on scene to find fire coming from the front of the house and contained the fire to the front room, BRFD said.

The rest of the house received heavy smoke damage.

No one was inside the home, and no one was injured.

Seven units were dispatched to the fire, which was under control just before 1 a.m.
