The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Tyrell J. George, 23.
Dr. William “Beau” Clark, the coroner, said the cause of death won’t be determined until an autopsy is completed. It is scheduled for Thursday, Clark said.
ORIGINAL STORY: Baton Rouge Police are investigating the shooting death of a man whose body was found in the street in the 1700 block of North 23rd shortly after 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.
District Attorney Hillar Moore III said the killing, apparently from gunfire, is “frustrating.”
Moore, who was at the scene Tuesday night, said the neighborhood has seen a “plague of violence. The residents don’t deserve it.”
“We need to stop the killings,” he said.
One neighbor, Robert Williams, said he heard 4-5 shots from his house around 6:45 p.m.
