Club MVP employee arrested after he allegedly knocked man unconscious during fight _lowres

Demarcus McKnight, 35

An employee of a Greenwell Springs Road night club was arrested Sunday after he allegedly knocked out another man during a fight.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived at Club MVP early Sunday morning to find the victim unconscious, lying in a puddle of blood and having trouble breathing, an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office report says.

After interviewing the club’s security staff, deputies determined that Demarcus McKnight, 35, 13413 Felton Clark Drive, had punched the victim in the face during a fight at the club, the report says.

Witnesses told deputies that the altercation began between a number of women who were former Club MVP employees, the report says.

The victim, who witnesses described as “extremely intoxicated,” appeared to lunge toward one of the women as if to strike her — at which point McKnight swung at him and knocked him unconscious, the report says.

McKnight denied the allegations, the report says, telling deputies he never put his hands on anyone.

Deputies booked McKnight on one count of second-degree battery. Bail for McKnight had not been set Sunday.
