A 74-year-old man was killed when he veered off Nicholson Drive and crashed into a culvert on Sunday morning, Baton Rouge Police said.

Dayton Guillot, of Baker, was heading south on Nicholson near Bob Pettit Boulevard at about 10:30 a.m. when he veered into the opposite lane, then drove into a ditch and struck the culvert, said Cpl. Don Coppola, a Baton Rouge Police spokesman.

Guillot was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, Coppola said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash, Coppola said.
