Baton Rouge police are investigating a Tuesday night car chase that led to a shooting and subsequent car crash, leaving a 23-year-old man in critical condition.
One vehicle with two men inside it allegedly began chasing a vehicle driven by the 23-year-old man at about 5:20 p.m. in the 2200 block of Spanish Town Road, said Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a police spokesman.
It's unclear at this time what sparked the chase, Coppola said, but the 23-year-old man ended up being shot and crashed his vehicle into a utility pole near the intersection of North 22nd and Gracie streets.
The incident remains under investigation, and police do not currently have any suspects in custody, Coppola said.
