Baton Rouge police on Thursday arrested a 23-year-old man accused of shooting a woman in the stomach during an attempted robbery.
The victim told officers that Christopher Green, whom she knew as “Boosie,” confronted her Tuesday afternoon in the 600 block of North Ardenwood Drive, according to the arrest warrant. He told her to put her cell phone on the ground, but she refused, the warrant says.
Green shot her and drove away, police said. The victim later identified him in a photographic lineup, authorities said.
Green, 1374 Thomas Delpit Drive, Baton Rouge, was booked Friday into Parish Prison on counts of attempted first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, illegal use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Baton Rouge man booked in rape
Baton Rouge police on Friday arrested a 22-year-old man accused of raping a woman while she was unconscious.
James Hillard Stewart Jr. raped the woman at the home of a mutual acquaintance early Dec. 26, according to the arrest report. The victim told investigators she was “passed out” on a couch when the attack happened, the report says.
Stewart, 2014 Rhodes Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked Friday into Parish Prison on a count of simple rape.
Man accused of carrying gun at BRCC
Authorities on Thursday arrested a 19-year-old man accused of carrying a stolen handgun at Baton Rouge Community College.
A witness called campus police after she saw Keyonta Simms with a handgun inside the student center, according to the arrest report. Officers found Simms with the weapon and arrested him, the report says.
Simms, 14836 Forest Grove Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked Thursday into Parish Prison on counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a firearm on school property and illegal carrying of a firearm.
Detectives seek Chase Bank robber
East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s detectives are searching for the man who robbed the Chase Bank on Siegen Lane on Friday afternoon.
A man entered the bank at 8751 Siegen Lane about 3:35 p.m. and passed the teller a note demanding an undisclosed amount of money, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office. He then ran through a wooded area behind the bank toward Meadow Park, Hicks said.
Investigators described the robber as a black male who was wearing a black zip-up hooded jacket, large sunglasses and a gray bomber hat.

Authorities book 6 on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least six people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
Shannon Bourgeois, 40, 1960 Southpointe Drive, Baton Rouge, second-offense DWI and reckless operation.
Matthew Harrison, 26, 8939 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, second-offense DWI, speeding and driver’s license suspended or revoked.
Clayton Hebert, 28, 2202 Aubin Lane, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and reckless operation.
Jimmie Huggins, 45, 23526 Burrell Road, Zachary, first-offense DWI.
Larry Pokladnik, 41, 1532 S. Acadian Thruway, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation, driving over median, fleeing to elude police, and driving wrong direction on one-way road.
Jose Reyes, 23, 10878 E. Fuller Place, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, driver’s license required, possession of alcohol in vehicle, insurance required and reckless operation.
