One person died in a single-vehicle crash on La. 31 at Little Teche Road in St. Landry Parish early Sunday, officials said.

Around 7:53 a.m., Clarence Robins, 32, of Opelousas, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo northbound on La. 31 and entered a left curve, Louisiana State Police said in a news release. Robins failed to negotiate the curve, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

Robins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
