State Police are examining a stolen red pickup truck driven by a man who fled from troopers Monday afternoon for possible clues to the driver’s identity.

The Chevrolet pickup, abandoned at BREC’s Farr Park Equestrian Center, was taken to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab on Monday evening after a search of the area around the park by Baton Rouge Police and state troopers failed to catch the driver, said Trooper First Class Bryan Lee, a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police.

The unidentified driver led authorities on a high-speed chase down Burbank Drive around 4:30 p.m. Monday after a state trooper attempted to pull him over for an unspecified traffic violation near the intersection of Burbank and Bluebonnet Boulevard, Lee said.

The man took off down Burbank with troopers in pursuit and then ditched the car at the park, located at River Road and Brightside Drive near the Riverbend subdivision, Lee said.

Baton Rouge police officers and state troopers spent several hours unsuccessfully searching the area for the man Monday.
