Kyle Lavergne, 18

Baton Rouge police arrested an 18-year-old man Tuesday who knocked down his pregnant girlfriend and then kicked and stomped on her in the stomach shortly after she told him she was pregnant with his child.

Kyle B. Lavergne, 3455 Winbourne Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of attempted first-degree feticide, simple battery and simple criminal damage to property.

The 20-year-old victim told police that she’d asked Lavergne to come to her home Sept. 21 to help fix her car when the two starting arguing about her having gone out on Saturday night.

The woman said she’d told Lavergne before the attack that she was pregnant with his child and then he told her he wanted her to have an abortion, the report says.

The victim told police tht Lavergne then punched her, knocking her to the floor. While she was on the ground, Lavergne allegedly kicked and stomped on her in the stomach. During the attack, he also shoved her head into the walls of the residence several times “with enough force to leave holes in the walls,” the report says.

After the attack, Lavergne then went outside and threw a brick at her car, shattering a window and cracking the windshield, the report says.

Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola said the victim’s pregnancy appears fine despite the attack.
