NEW ROADS — Deputies were searching Friday night for two Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center escapees, Sheriff Beauregard “Bud” Torres said.

The inmates — Lindsey Hardwick, 25, and Chandler Womack, 20 — escaped around 7:30 p.m. Friday by jumping the low-security facility’s fence, Torres said.

Authorities were searching around the facility for the inmates, Torres said.

The two inmates, both of whom were incarcerated for burglary, were scheduled to be released in January and August, Torres said.
