Baton Rouge police are investigating a shooting that left three people injured and one man in custody after he returned fire with the shooter early Sunday in the parking lot of a Plank Road nightclub.

A group of people walked out of Club Bella Noche around 1:50 a.m. when someone in a car began shooting at them, striking three people who had non-life-threatening injuries, said Baton Rouge police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely.

Ikey Washington, 32, was with the three victims and returned fire at the shooter, McKneely said. Police arrived shortly after and arrested Washington, but did not catch the shooter.

Washington, of 10116 Avenue I, was arrested on counts of felon in possession of a firearm and possession of narcotics.

The shooting stemmed from an earlier argument inside Club Bella Noche, at 8190 Plank Road, between the victims and the shooter, McKneely said.

“When they got outside, the suspect they were having an argument with started shooting at the three victims,” he said. They were taken to a hospital for their injuries.

McKneely said police are unsure how many people were in the vehicle from which the shots were fired.

“We found several shell casings out there,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to search for the shooter.
