After receiving a report that a hotel clerk was being held at gunpoint on Friday morning, Baton Rouge police responded to the North Lobdell Boulevard hotel with its Special Response Team.

Fortunately, though, the report turned out to be a false alarm, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Police Department spokesman.

SRT officers rolled out to the Best Western Chateau Louisianne Suite Hotel on Friday morning in response to the reported hostage situation.

When police arrived, hotel employees were surprised, McKneely said. When told by police about the report of a hostage sitution, the hotel employees said no such event occurred.

“We were shocked when they came in,” said Jenice Jones, a manager at the hotel, “and we didn’t know what was going on.”

Jones said everyone who worked at the hotel was quickly located and accounted for. She said police did a thorough sweep of the hotel and then were able to confirm that the report was false.
