A vacant house on Ontario Street at the corner of Plank Road in Baton Rouge was declared a loss Tuesday night after it was engulfed by a fire.

Baton Rouge firefighters responded at 10:28 p.m. to the blaze amid reports of a person possibly trapped inside, but no one was found in the house, department spokesman Curt Monte said.

The floors of the unoccupied two-story building collapsed from the flames, he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
