A Baton Rouge man who stopped by his friend’s house to pick her up Sunday morning found himself the victim of an armed robbery by a man who answered the door, police said.
The victim knocked on the front door of his friend’s house shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday and asked the man who answered the door whether his friend was there, a Baton Rouge police report says.
Garry Lee Camel Jr., who answered the door, told the victim he’d be right back, the report says.
Camel returned to the door moments later with a black handgun and demanded that the victim hand over whatever money he had on him, the report says. Camal took $122 from the victim before closing the front door, police said.
Police found Camel, 19, of 4848 Lynn St., inside the friend’s house shortly after the robbery and booked him into Parish Prison on one count of armed robbery.
The report does not say whether the victim’s friend was at the residence at the time of the robbery.
