Police arrested a Baton Rouge man Sunday accused of beating his ex-girlfriend with a metal pipe and then biting her several times during an argument.

David Reed, 37, showed up at the woman’s home on Frey Street and started fighting with her moments later, according to a police report. As the argument escalated, Reed hit the woman in the head with a metal pipe, causing a laceration on her head — then bit her on both arms, the report says.

When the woman ran away, Reed gave chase — but at some point he stopped and left. Baton Rouge police found him walking in the 2900 block of Addison Street, the report says.

Reed and the woman had lived together for a year, according to the report.

Reed, of 4923 Ritterman Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated battery, domestic abuse battery. He was also sought as a fugitive by the U.S. Marshals.
