A Baton Rouge man and woman were arrested Saturday morning after the couple’s heated argument turned physical when the man threw his girlfriend’s pet guinea pig and killed it.

Terry Spurlock, 28, said he and his live-in girlfriend, Tralaisha Campbell, 19, were arguing when she began throwing his belongings outside and bleaching his clothes out of anger, according to an East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office report.

Spurlock then grabbed his girlfriend’s guinea pig and killed it by throwing it, according to the Sheriff’s Office report on the incident. When he told Campbell her pet was dead, the two began throwing punches at each other and then Campbell left the house, the report states.

Spurlock changed his story several times when deputies were questioning him about who threw the first punch, the report said. Campbell told deputies she could not remember who grabbed whom first when the two began fighting.

The couple has been living together over the past five years, the report said.

Spurlock, of 8505 Leak Ave., was booked into Parish Prison on counts of domestic abuse and animal cruelty. Campbell, also of 8505 Leak Ave., was booked into Parish Prison on a count of domestic abuse.
