A Lake Charles man was arrested Wednesday in the rape of a 14-year-old girl in 2012 that occurred while she was visiting her father at his Baton Rouge home.

Police were only recently able to get enough information to obtain a warrant, said Cpl. Don A. Coppola Jr., Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman.

The victim was visiting her father in October when he left her with Ernest Dixon, 59. After she and Dixon returned from a trip to the store, the victim went to her father’s bedroom alone. Shortly after, Dixon came in and raped her, the report says.

She first disclosed she was raped by writing a note to her bus driver Oct. 25, 2012, but withdrew the allegations, Coppola said. She later told a relative about the incident.

Dixon was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Wednesday morning on a count of burglary and rape, booking records show.
