Baton Rouge police and U.S. Marshals arrested a 28-year-old man Tuesday accused of fatally shooting a woman and injuring her niece July 25 on Ryder Street, a police spokesman said.

Devon Livous, 28, 1149 Flora Lane, was found by U.S. Marshals at 3030 Congress Blvd., Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said in a news release.

Livous will be booked into Parish Prison on one count each of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, Stubbs said.

Livous is accused in the slaying of Raolatu Alowonle, 28, and the wounding of Alowonle’s 11-year-old niece, police have said.

Alowonle and the girl were shot just before 5 p.m. while walking on the sidewalk at 1844 Ryder Drive, police have said.

Alowonle died from the gunshot wounds at a hospital, police have said. The girl, who was shot in the leg, is in stable condition and is expected to survive.
