Sheriff’s deputies on Monday arrested a 23-year-old woman accused of attacking her live-in boyfriend with a baseball bat and setting fire to some of his belongings during a fight at their O’Neal Lane apartment in February.

Courtney Deshawn Wells allegedly “became irate” during a fight with her boyfriend on Feb. 20, according to a Sheriff’s Office report, which prompted the boyfriend to leave their apartment.

Soon after, he received a phone call from his girlfriend, who told him he should come home soon because she was burning some of his sneakers, the report says.

When the man returned home, he found some of his sneakers and other clothing on fire in a bathtub. Wells then began swinging a baseball bat throughout the apartment, destroying some mirrors and a TV set while also attempting to strike her boyfriend several times, the report says.

Wells, of Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated arson, domestic abuse aggravated assault and criminal damage to property, bookings records show.
