Detectives are investigating the Monday night shooting of a 44-year-old man that occurred near the 2600 block of N. 38th Street, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.

Police responded to the parking lot of the L.A.S. Urban Wear store just before 8 p.m., the release says.

Police found out then that the victim was taken to local hospital with life-threatening injuries, the release says.

The victim was shot multiple times in the upper and lower part of his body, the release says.

The victim was reportedly standing in the parking lot when he was approached by two young people and one of them began shooting at the victim, the release says.
