The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at Port Drive and GSRI Avenue that left one man dead on Saturday morning.
Deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of Port Drive at around 10 a.m. Saturday, where they found a man with gunshot injuries, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. Though the man was taken to a hospital, he died soon after, Hicks said.
The Sheriff’s Office has yet to release the identity of the victim.
Two booked on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Kevin Castellanos Gomez, 21, 42453 Bayou Narcisse Road, Gonzales, first-offense DWI, maximum speed limit, reckless operation of vehicle.
- Gerald Kent, 47, 1035 Eleanore St., Port Allen, first-offense DWI.
