The woman struck and killed Tuesday night in Baton Rouge while walking across Airline Highway has been identified as 43-year-old Melissa Arlt, said East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner William “Beau” Clark.
Arlt’s death due to “multisystem trauma” was classified as accidental, Clark said.
Arlt, of Angie, was walking eastbound across the 8300 block of Airline Highway, just north of Florida Boulevard, about 7 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound 2003 Honda Accord, said Baton Rouge Sgt. Don Coppola on Wednesday.
Arlt does not appear to have been crossing at a corner or crosswalk, said Coppola.
Alcohol is not suspected in the crash and the Honda’s driver was not cited, Coppola said.
