Baton Rouge police continue late Tuesday afternoon searching for an armed man accused of holding up the Regions Bank at 5950 Plank Road around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The man entered the bank through the north side glass doors with a gun and disarmed the security guard, police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., said.

He walked up to the front counter, demanded cash from the teller and left on foot with an unknown amount of money, Coppola said.

“Nobody was hurt,” Coppola said.

Police say the robber is a black man in his mid 20s to late 30s with a dark complexion and possibly with a goatee. He is about 5-feet, 10-inches to 6-feet tall, weighs about 200 to 230 pounds and was wearing a gray hoodie, green polo shirt, blue jeans and a light-colored baseball cap, Coppola said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Armed Robbery Office at 389-3845 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
