Two people were killed and one was injured in a two-vehicle crash late Friday morning on La. 20 in St. James Parish.
An initial investigation found that 84-year-old Morris Keller, of Vacherie, was driving westbound in a 1997 Ford F-150 on La. 20 near St. Patrick Street about 10:30 a.m. when he crossed the center line into the eastbound lane for unknown reasons and hit head-on an oncoming 2007 Ford Escape driven by Valerie Caesar, State Police said in a news release
Keller and Caesar, 55, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office. A passenger in Caesar’s vehicle was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, the release says.
All three involved were buckled in at the time of the crash, and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.
The Coroner’s Office will conduct a test to determine if any alcohol, drug or medical factors led to the crash, the release says.
