Update, 11:20 a.m.: Police arrested a 20-year-old man Saturday after he was accused of accidentally shooting a 17-year-old while FaceTiming Friday night.

Baton Rouge Police arrested Byron Devore in the shooting and killing of Gerald Levi, of Baton Rouge, Friday night around 9:40 p.m., said Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely.

Devore was holding a gun while FaceTiming on his cell phone when he accidentally shot Levi in the head in the 2100 block of Tennessee Street, McKneely said in a news release Saturday morning.

Devore, of 2111 Tennessee Street, was booked into Parish Prison on a count of negligent homicide, the release says.

Police are investigating a Friday night shooting on Tennessee Street.

Baton Rouge Police received a call about a shooting at East Harrison Street and Tennessee Street around 9:40 p.m. Friday, said police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely.

McKneely said at least one person was injured but he was uncertain of the extent of the injury.

The investigation is ongoing, McKneely said.
