One person is dead and others injured after two shootings and a stabbing in less than 10 hours Sunday night in Baton Rouge.

A male died Sunday after reports of shots fired in the 8000 block of Skysail Avenue near Innovation Park Drive. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office responded to shots fired at 9 p.m. Sunday. A male was found unresponsive and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 225-389-5000 of 225-344-STOP.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a separate shooting that also occurred Sunday night.

A 33-year-old woman driving in Baton Rouge was struck in the leg by a bullet that pierced her car door in what police say could be a random shooting, said Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely.

She was “just driving down the road and a bullet went through her door,” said McKneely.

The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. as the woman traveled westbound on Government Street near Lovers Lane.

The woman, who was not identified, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, McKneely said. There are no suspects or known motives in the case, which is still under investigation, he said.

Later, the sheriff's office was on the scene of a stabbing in Baton Rouge.
