Baton Rouge police officers arrested an 18-year-old man accused of fatally shooting a 16-year-old boy while the boy was walking home on June 12.

Isaiah Combs, 18, 1267 Christy Drive, Baton Rouge, was booked Wednesday into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of first-degree murder, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a Baton Rouge Police spokesman.

Police arrested Combs around 9:15 p.m. at 4115 Prescott Road shortly after someone provided a tip to a member of the Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination Project.

On June 12, Cameron Phillips was walking home with a group of other people when he was fatally shot near the intersection of Tams Drive and Vickers Drive.

McKneeley said a motive was not yet known and he could not confirm whether Phillips was the target of the shooting.

A handgun was used in the shooting, McKneely said.
