One woman drowned Sunday while tubing on the Upper Amite River in the Watson area, a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Kimberly Gillien, 32, of Franklin, spokeswoman Lori Steele said.

Deputies said no foul play is suspected, Steele said. Deputies and East Baton Rouge Parish EMS were called just before 3 p.m. to the scene, a spot on the river near Greenwell Springs Road and Ednie Lane near the Livingston and East Baton Rouge parish line.

It appears the woman was tubing on the river at the time, Steele said.

A second woman was taken to a hospital, EMS spokesman Mike Chutz said. Her condition was not known Sunday.
