East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a 59-year-old man Sunday accused of stabbing a person in the neck after an argument, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Jimmy Dawes got into an argument with the other person at 10448 Jefferson Highway, Apt. G, and stabbed the person with a 3-inch pocketknife, the affidavit says.
The victim was taken to a hospital for surgery, the affidavit says. The affidavit does not list the gender of the victim.
Deputies detained Dawes and took his knife, the affidavit says. Dawes told deputies he stabbed the person after the person punched him in the face, the affidavit says.
Dawes, 10448 Jefferson Highway, Apt. G, was booked into Parish Prison on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
Authorities book 2 on DWI suspicion
Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Monday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
• Herschel Ealem, 24, 11585 N. Harrell’s Ferry Road, first-offense DWI, driver’s license required and obstruction of a public highway.
• Tuan Huynh, 43, 2301 Lafayette Lane, Gretna, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and driver’s license required or expired.
