No one was home when a fire Thursday morning swept through a Glen Oaks Drive house, causing extensive damage to the home, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

The homeowner told firefighters she had left the house just 30 minutes before the blaze started.

The cause of the fire was undetermined, but foul play was not suspected, said Mark Miles, a department spokesman, in a news release.

When firefighters arrived at 5736 Glen Oaks Drive, just after 7:30 a.m., they found fire coming from the front window of the single-family home, he said. Crews gained access through a side door to begin their attack on the fire. The fire was under control just before 8 a.m., Miles said.

The house and its contents received heavy fire and smoke damage estimated at $120,000, Miles said. The Red Cross was contacted to help the family.
