Police are looking for a man who struck a Family Dollar cashier with a metal pipe during a robbery.

The man, captured in surveillance images, posed as a customer by carrying merchandise to the front of the store at 12132 Florida Blvd., on July 31 around 10:40 a.m., Baton Rouge police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola said in a news release.

After hitting the store employee in the head, the robber fled with merchandise after the cashier activated an alarm, Coppola said.

The worker refused any medical treatment at the scene.

Police describe the suspect as a dark-skinned black man, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, wearing a black bucket hat, black shirt and white tennis shoes.
