After a fire broke out at a Harry Drive home Friday morning, the homeowner jumped out of a back window, cutting himself on the broken glass, according to Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Mark Miles.

Miles said firefighters arrived at the house at 8:17 a.m. and saw flames coming out of a back side of the home, located at 8106 Harry Drive. Firefighters soon heard that a resident was inside the home, but as they searched for him, he jumped through a back window, Miles said.

The homeowner suffered cuts from the window's glass and smoke inhalation. The house was heavily damaged by the fire and smoke, Miles said. The fire was under control by 8:44 a.m.

Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the blaze.
