A woman accused of hitting a seven-year-old girl in the mouth because she wasn't doing her homework was arrested Tuesday, according to an arrest warrant.

Gabrielle Augusta, 22, 1012 S. Lanoux Ave., Gonzales was booked Tuesday with cruelty to a juvenile by the Baton Rouge Police Department, parish jail records show.

According to the warrant, the victim's mother left the girl with Augusta, a relative, on Aug 31 while she wasn't home.

Augusta reportedly called the victim's mother several times and told her she was about to physically punish the girl for not listening, the warrant says.

The mother of the victim told Augusta not to touch her daughter, the warrant says.

The victim told police Augusta was angry with her after she refused to do her homework and that Augusta hit her in the mouth and the right shoulder, the warrant says.

The victim suffered bleeding from the mouth and swelling and bruising to her right shoulder, the warrant says.

Augusta told the victim's mother when she got home that she had "lost it" and "busted" the victim in the mouth, the warrant says.
