One woman was injured in a shooting early Wednesday morning in north Baton Rouge, police said.

The shooting happened around 2:35 a.m. in the 5000 block of Jackson Avenue near the intersection with North Foster Drive, police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said in a news release.

A 38-year-old woman was struck in the neck while sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, McKneely said. The woman, whose injuries are not considered life-threatening, was taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.
