A man who fell to his death from the top floor of the Shaw Center apparently committed suicide, Baton Rouge Police say.

The unidentified 28-year-old was found near midnight Saturday on the west side of the building, located at 100 Lafayette St.

“Through initial investigation there appeared to be no evidence of foul play causing his death,” Capt. Joan Cage’s news release says.

Evidence indicates the man committed suicide, the release says.

Police are identifying the man, Cage said, and more details would be released later.

The Shaw Center has six floors, including an open-air terrace atop the building.

The $65-million building opened in March 2005.
