Police are investigating an incident in which a man suffered gunshot injuries during a suspected robbery Saturday evening on Plank Road, said Baton Rouge police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola Jr.

Crews responded to the 2900 block of Plank Road around 6:15 p.m. for what police believe was a robbery during which the victim was shot, Coppola said. But officers were unable to locate the victim at the scene.

Shortly thereafter, a man believed to be the  victim checked into a local hospital with gunshot injuries, Coppola said. His injuries appear non-life threatening.

Coppola said the incident remains under investigation.
