Two men shot and wounded each other at noon Friday on Sycamore Street during an argument about a water bill, Baton Rouge police said.
Malcolm Patrick, 50, allegedly shot Anthony Malveo, 39, once in the chest during the argument at the men’s 5304 Sycamore St. home, police spokesman Sgt. Don Stone said in a news release.
Malveo then wrestled the gun away from Patrick and shot Patrick twice in the leg, Stone said. Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Malveo is in serious condition, Stone said. Patrick was treated and released.
Patrick will be booked into Parish Prison on one count each of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, Stone said.
BR man, 18, charged with raping girl, 12
Police arrested an 18-year-old man Friday in the rape of a 12-year-old girl, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Family members of the victim reported to police on Tuesday that she was missing, the affidavit says.
Officers found the victim Thursday at the house of Tray Harris.
Harris admitted to police that he had sex with the girl but said the girl told him she was 17, the affidavit says.
Harris, 12532 Settlement Court, was booked into Parish Prison on one count of aggravated rape.
Authorities book 8 on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least eight people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
-Hunter Bankston, 18, 10916 N. Oak Hills Parkway, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and stop sign violation.
-Narkeita James, 27, 6365 Cyrus Ave., first-offense DWI, drinking in a motor vehicle, headlight required and improper lane usage.
-Benjamin Johnston, 26, 605 Center St., Ruston, first-offense DWI, speeding, license plate required and driving too slow.
-Alfred Meyers, 65, 6555 Sumrall, first-offense DWI, failure to maintain control and reckless operation of a vehicle.
-Carlton Tucker, 38, 4847 Bradley St., first-offense DWI, failure to signal, improper turn, improper lane usage, reckless operation of a vehicle.
-Kenneth Ware, 25, 601 N. Oak St., Vidalia, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.
-Brian White, 21, 10325 Railroad Ave., Maringouin, first-offense DWI and equipment violation.
-Cyrus Wixson, 18, 7471 Estelle Drive, Denham Springs, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and driving over median.
Authorities arrest 10 in prostitution sting
Eight women and two men were arrested Thursday during an undercover prostitution sting operation at the La Quinta at 2333 S. Acadian Thruway, an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said Friday.
The sting was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office, the state Attorney General’s Office and the FBI, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.
Derrick Pitcher, age not known, 1645 Jasper Ave., was booked into Parish Prison on a count of promoting prostitution.
Carmen White, 26, 1554 Rollins Road, Zachary, was booked on the same count.
