A Baton Rouge police officer was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly punched a Varsity Theater employee Sept. 7.

Taylor Derousselle, 24, 13132 Oak Knoll Drive, Geismar, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of simple battery, police spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola said.

“Derousselle has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation,” Coppola said.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, a bouncer grabbed Derousselle and brought him outside after he was involved in a disturbance with another person.

While the two were outside, Derousselle pulled out his Baton Rouge Police Department ID card and said he would “arrest everyone here,” the affidavit says.

Derousselle then took a deep breath and punched the bouncer in the face, the affidavit says.

The victim sustained a hairline fracture to his left cheek, the affidavit says.

Derousselle has been on the force for seven months and works as a patrol officer in the 4th District, Coppola said.
